Five Hundred, Twenty Five Thousand, Six Hundred Minutes
A look back at 2015 in pictures.
I started out this photography business from scratch just under three years ago, and I couldn't be happier that I did.
2015 has been another of growth, not only in the volume of work but also in the number of happy clients who keep coming back to me.
I also feel like I've grown myself this year creatively and personally. It's the year I proposed to my fiancée, bought a house and started to put down some roots in north London, which was a big thing for me, having grown up south of the river.
This year has seen all manner of things in front of my camera lens, which has made for an entertaining, challenging and varied time. I've shot loads of events, ranging from the Olivier Awards in April to the Stonewall Awards in November right through to various company Christmas parties in December. I've photographed more interiors this year, which I've really enjoyed. I've also shot several weddings which have all been amazing fun, each in their own way, some with small civil ceremonies, some big Jewish weddings with energy through the roof, and others in churches and photography studios!
I also attended the first ever Nine Dots Gathering which was an, 'ahem', gathering of wedding photographers from across the UK. We learnt from the world's best wedding photographers and played a lot of ping pong. I made some great friends and can't wait to do it again next year!
2016 will bring my own wedding, which fills me with excitement, especially as my now good friend Jon Mold will be shooting it along with my other new buddy Dan Bold.
It's going to be another great year I hope. In the mean time, I've pulled together a few (well, about 100) of my favourite shots from the past five hundred, twenty five thousand, six hundred minutes.
Have a great festive break everyone and a very happy new year!
Starbucks 'Reserve Bar' Concept
A trendy news style of Starbucks store.
Starbucks have recently opened a new ‘Reserve Bar’ concept in London’s Covent Garden. This new concept, designed to allow customers an open-plan experience where they can see how their food and drinks are made, was developed by Starbucks in-house design team.
The lighting was designed and installed by Shoplight and they invited me along to photograph it, which of course I was more than happy to do!
It is definitely the coolest Starbucks I've been in to date, but I'll show you the photos and let you decide!
Brackenbury Grove
Photographs to sell the Brackenbury neighbourhood for a property developer.
Brackenbury village is a lovely little pocket of London just North West of Hammersmith with a real community feel and some delightful local shops, cafes and pubs.
Brackenbury Grove is a brand new development in the area and I was asked to take some photographs of the local area in order to help market the new town houses and apartments. I spent a couple of days there during a period of somewhat inconsistent weather taking some photos that highlight the best of the neighbourhood. Some of my favourite shots can be seen below.
The 10th Annual Stonewall Awards
The Victoria & Albert Museum in London hosted this inspiring awards ceremony.
Back in November I was very excited to be asked by the team at Stonewall, the UK's leading LGBT charity, to come along and capture their annual awards ceremony at one of my favourite venues, the Victoria and Albert Museum in Kensington.
The awards were presented by the one and only Sir Ian McKellen, co-founder of the charity itself. He was full of energy, warmth and love, which made for an entertaining evening. The awards themselves were varied, including the publication of the decade, politician of the decade, writer of the decade and sportsperson of the decade to name a few.
Nigel Owens, the Welsh referee who officiated the 2015 Rugby World Cup Final at Twickenham, won the sportsperson of the decade and he gave a very moving acceptance speech which had most of the room holding back the tears.
It was an honour to photograph the event and I'm very much looking forward to working with Stonewall again. Some of my favourite photos from the event...
