Muffin Break!

Earlier this month I was asked to photograph the opening of a new branch of the Australian cafe chain, Muffin Break in Southside shopping centre, Wandsworth. It's the first branch in London, so it was quite a big deal for the company.

There were staff a plenty, loads of baked treats and good coffee all on offer for the folks who were passing through Southside on that Friday morning.

The work was on behalf of agency Ware Anthony Rust, who are based in Cambridge. They managed to find a very local photographer on this occasion as I'm based about a 3 minute bus ride away in Clapham Junction.

Check out a few of my favourite images from the morning opening.

AJEX March 2013 on Whitehall London

Each year I head down to Whitehall on the sunday after Remembrance Sunday in November to photograph the AJEX March. AJEX is the Association for Jewish Ex Servicemen and Servicewomen.

I'm very proud to say my grandfather, having served in the Royal Navy, is the parade commander each year, meaning he leads the parade and tells them to stand to attention a few times. I like to go along to take photos of him and all the other men and women who served their country.

I love being a photojournalist on these occasions and documenting all that goes on. This year his Royal Highness Prince Michael of Kent was in attendance too with his brilliant white beard.

Last year a couple of my photos were published in the Jewish Chronicle newspaper. Not this year, as they had an official photographer who was able to roam free. Regardless, here are a few of my favourite shots from this year's march.

Daou Jewellery Photos

Many of might not know my mum is an amazing jewellery designer and I've taken photos for her many times before - check her work out at the Sharon Tyler Jewellery website.

I've also taken photos for the very talented jewellery designer Anna Byers, who is doing rather well I'm pleased to see.

So I was happy and excited when an old friend of mine, Dalia Daou, came to me recently. Having moved out of a career in the city, Dalia has re-launched her family's jewellery brand which was started in 1930. Dalia designs the pieces herself but they are made to the highest level of quality using gold, silver, diamonds and other precious stones in Hatton Garden, London. You can learn more on her website, DaouJewellery.com. The following photos, at the time of writing, aren't yet on her website but they will be soon.

Hot Chocolate!

This month I had the pleasure of photographing some rather delicious chocolates made by a friend of a friend who is starting an online chocolate business.

The Chilli Chocolate Company, which will be launching soon, specialises in chocolate with a bit of a kick. Having tasted a few sneaky samples whilst shooting, I can vouch for the kick they have - delicious but with a nice small amount of heat to go along with it.

The photos were all for online use so a nice white background was required. The chocolates were shot in a light tent with studio lights from multiple sides to ensure a shadowless look. I added the reflections and shadow in post production to give it a nice gloss.

Product photography is a nice break from portrait and event photography - I like it a lot, especially when the end product is perishable, edible and delicious!

Here's a selection of the chocolates for your viewing pleasure.
