Interior photography of newly refurbished branches of Itsu & Waterstones
I took some interior and exterior photos of a newly refurbished location for Itsu in London City as well as a recently refurbished Waterstones store in the Bentalls Centre in Kingston Upon Thames. The connection between the two? They are both clients of my client, Shoplight, who installed all the lighting.
Japanese food, in particular sushi, is such a popular choice now for office workers at lunch because it’s a healthy and tasty option, so Itsu has been opening up new stores and refurbishing old ones to keep up with the trend. This restaurant is a small one in the heart of the city at the bottom of the Willis Building.
Waterstones is one of the UK's leading book retailers and they are gradually refurbishing their locations in order to make them more appealing places in which people would want to spend their time. One way they are doing that is by including a cafe within their stores. I was pleased to visit their store in Kingston which looks great, as you can see below.

Commercial interior photography of the newly renovated buildings in the gardens of RHS Wisley.
The gardens at RHS Wisley are well known to be amongst the most beautiful in the UK, so I was excited when I was asked by The Alan Nuttall Partnership to photograph the incredible job they had done fitting out the new buildings. The spacious new buildings house a garden centre, large gift shop, cafe and restaurant, and I had just one day to capture it all with my camera. I had to work quick!y! The interiors feature some amazing focal points, like a bookshop with books hanging from the ceiling, and an events space with hundred of trowels hanging from another ceiling!
The weather on the day I was there was not perfect by any means, but fortunately the clouds parted in the afternoon just in time for me to get a few shots of the outdoor part of the garden centre.
It really is an amazing space, I recommend you visit to see it with your own eyes, but until then, here are some of my favourite images.
Creative Work Spaces...
...don't come much better than this. Mindspace in Aldgate is a brand new, funky co-working space with a great vibe.
...don't come much better than this place. Mindspace has a couple of London locations. I was asked to take some photos for the brand new Aldgate location for PR purposes and I was blown away by how cool this place is. If I was looking for somewhere in the city to work from, this would be high up on my list. I always enjoy photographing London interiors, and this was quite different from the retail photography I often do.
Mindspace has hot-desking facilities as well as fixed offices for small businesses and startups. The decor is ultra cool, with funky artwork all over the place, awesome furnishings and a friendly atmosphere to boot.
Here are some of my favourite shots from the shoot. The first one is a composite photo of several different frames, with my camera on a tripod and each individual being lit in a separate exposure. I love using creative techniques like this to bring a space to life with people.
Christmas Shopping All Done?
