2016: Not A Great Year For The World, But A Decent One For Me

A slideshow of my favourite work from 2016.

2016 won't be a year that many people remember fondly, what with everything that's happened on a global scale. I certainly won't look back fondly on Brexit and Trump's win. Not to mention all the lovely famous people who passed away this year.

But on a personal level, 2016 was the year I got married and a year in which my business has continued to grow at an increasing rate. Here's a photo of my wife Rachel and I on our wedding day having the time of our life, taken by the absolutely brilliant Jon Mold.

So I'll always look back on April 2016 fondly, particularly our honeymoon trip to Japan.

This year I've been lucky enough to work with more fantastic people than I can name. I've photographed loads of events, from huge corporate dinners through to charity marches through the streets of London. I've photographed lots of beautiful homes, and even more beautiful homes in progress (read building sites). Luxury retails outlets have been in front of my lens more and more, whilst I've also snapped plenty of people's headshots. All in all its been a varied year, with plenty of weddings, and even a secret treasure hunt proposal!

I'd like to take this opportunity to thank everyone who I've worked with and has supported me this year. I look forward to working with you again in the year to come and of course look forward to meeting and working with lots of new faces too.

Here's a selection of my favourite images from the year. You can see a few more in the slideshow at the top!

A Quick Pint? Yes Please.

Introducing the world's first contactless beer pump. No more queuing behind people ordering huge rounds or complicated cocktails when all you want is a pint!

This month i was thrilled to help out on a project with the good people at PR agency Cohn & Wolfe for their client, Barclaycard.

Their innovation team had cleverly devised the world's first contactless beer pump. Simply put, you can avoid the queues at the bar, touch your card on the contactless reader, tap the screen and then pour yourself your own pint. Genius!

Such a great idea, this one, that it was picked up by loads of the media. Here are a few of the pics and an article in the business section of The Guardian and the Wired UK website.

Luxury Shopping at Heathrow Terminal 5

The luxurious new Harrods store at Heathrow Terminal 5, featuring concessions from many designer brands.

I've spent a few hours at Heathrow Terminal 5 recently, but I wasn't boarding any planes this time. I was airside, through some thorough security checks, taking photos of the newly refurbished Harrods store on behalf of Nuttalls.

I was there once the store was finished but but before any merchandise was brought in, and then again, very early one morning, to photograph the store once fully stocked.

I was really pleased with how these images turned out, and so too was the client, which is of course my main aim on every shoot!

Waiting For Waiting For Theatre Photography

Rehearsals and production photography for Waiting For Waiting For Godot, starring Simon Day of the Fast Show.

In August I was invited along to take some photos for a new production of a play called Waiting For Waiting For Godot. It's a comedy based on the classic, Waiting For Godot. Having been successful in New York, it was our turn, and the small cast was headed up by Simon Day, well known for the Fast Show amongst other things.

I had the chance to go along and take some photos during rehearsals and then again a little while later on the set of the production at St James Theatre in Victoria.

It was great fun to be up close with such talented actors. The photos were published in the programme for the show - always nice to see my photos in print. A big thanks to Libby Brodie of Libby Brodie Productions for the opportunity. Here are some of my favourite shots.
