...don't come much better than this place. Mindspace has a couple of London locations. I was asked to take some photos for the brand new Aldgate location for PR purposes and I was blown away by how cool this place is. If I was looking for somewhere in the city to work from, this would be high up on my list. I always enjoy photographing London interiors, and this was quite different from the retail photography I often do.
Mindspace has hot-desking facilities as well as fixed offices for small businesses and startups. The decor is ultra cool, with funky artwork all over the place, awesome furnishings and a friendly atmosphere to boot.
Here are some of my favourite shots from the shoot. The first one is a composite photo of several different frames, with my camera on a tripod and each individual being lit in a separate exposure. I love using creative techniques like this to bring a space to life with people.
Headshots & Working Photos
I'm often asked by small companies to come to their office, take some headshots of their staff and also capture some photos of the team at work.
I find myself quite often asked by small businesses to come in to their offices to take some staff headshots as well as some photos of the team 'at work'.
Capturing great photos of people at work is not as simple as it sounds. Often real office work is not worthy of a photo. Most of the time, photos of someone using a computer or having a conversation on the phone won't look very dynamic or interesting. So most of the time I find it works better to set photos up artificially. It doesn't take much to do so. Often it's as simple as having a few team members sit together in the right light and have a meeting, although it's important that everyone looks engaged (which is not always the case in normal meetings!).
Below are some examples of the types of photos I mean, mixed in with some headshots from a few different recent shoots.

Headshots and business portraits at Landsec, the largest commercial property development and investment company in the UK.
Landsec is the largest commercial property development and investment company in the UK, and I was recently asked to photograph some of their staff for publicity purposes. They required some photos for use when they write an article online, speak at a conference or are quoted elsewhere. Fortunately being such a big, successful property business mean their offices, located in the heart of the new developments in Victoria, are stunning and provide plenty of spaces to use for some contemporary style business portraits. With about 20 minutes for each person, I was able to capture a selection of shots for them to use in different scenarios. Here are some of my favourites.
Julie Montagu, Yoga Rockstar
Julie Montagu is a bit of a rock star in the world of yoga, and she invited me along to photograph her school of yoga, where she teaches her students how to teach yoga themselves.
Julie Montagu is a bit of a rockstar in the world of yoga and nutrition. She's so good at yoga, she teaches people how to teach yoga. So when she invited me along to take some photos of her yoga school in action, I didn't take much persuading. She had guest teachers who are also expert yoga practitioners helping her students learn very advanced techniques.
I'm going back again in the summer to see her students graduate, but in the mean time, if you're in London and looking to learn how to teach yoga, you should definitely check out the Julie Montagu School of Yoga. Here are some of my favourite photos from my time at the school.
