Jerry, Jerry, Jerry!

Jerry Springer was the guest of honour at the annual WJR Business Dinner this year.

Remember the time in the 90s when American talk shows were all the rage? You know the ones, where people would go on to settle their family and relationship disputes? We even have British versions still running today, like Jeremy Kyle for example. The most famous of all the American ones, excluding Oprah of course which is of a different ilk, was Jerry Springer. The talk show guests would often be known to break into fighting, only for the security heavies to pull them apart. That was when the crowd would start hollering, whooping and chanting "Jerry! Jerry! Jerry!".

People loved the drama of the show so much it was even turned into a stage musical that ran in the West End in London for two years in from 2003 to 2005. What I didn't realise until last month is that the Jerry Springer Show is still going strong! Who knew?!

So why am I talking about Jerry Springer anyway? He was the guest of honour this year at the Annual Business Dinner organised by World Jewish Relief. He was interviewed by newsreader Emily Maitlis, and he wasn't afraid to tell the audience his views on the current president of the USA. At the age of 73, Jerry is still full of life, working the room and chatting with many of the guests who had come along to see him.

Here are some of my favourite images from the event.

Remaining Photographs

Whether you live in the UK or elsewhere, you probably won't have missed the news that this Thursday, the population of Britain will vote in a referendum to decide whether or not the country remains in the European Union or leaves it.

I remain apolitical, ahem. I have had the pleasure of photographing a couple of different events where senior political figures have laid out their reasons why the country should remain in the EU.

At the start of this month I photographed an annual dinner for World Jewish Relief, one of my great charity clients, where the Chancellor of the Exchequer, George Osborne, was in attendance to talk to Lord Daniel Finkelstein, the Times columnist in front of the guests. Mr Osborne was convincing and his remain stance well received by the audience.

A couple of weeks later, just last week, I photographed a Brexit panel debate featuring Lord William Hague of Richmond, the ex-leader of the Conservative party. He represented the remain vote whilst well-known economist, Dr Gerard Lyons, presented the argument to leave.

Both events were well attended as this referendum has become the most important decision the average British person is likely to vote for in their lifetime. Some of my favourite photos from the events can be seen here...

WJR Fundraising Dinner

The 2015 dinner, chaired by Emily Maitlis, was a great success.

World Jewish Relief is a great charity helping tackle Jewish humanitarian issues around the world. Their great work helps thousands of people every year but of course help can't be provided without the charity raising enough money to fund it all.

The annual dinner is a great event, with the lovely Emily Maitlis acting as compere for the evening. The main speaker this year was Fergal Keane, foreign correspondent for the BBC, and his speech moved the whole room.

It was a pleasure to photograph such an important event - here are some of my favourite images...

House Of Cards

This summer I was asked by World Jewish Relief to come along and photograph a fundraising event they were holding, at which Michael Dobbs, the author of the original House of Cards book and resulting trilogy. He spends most of his time acting as a Conservative MP.

Dobbs was interviewed by Richard Suchet, a BBC broadcaster who is the nephew of the well known actor David Suchet. As a fan of the recent Netflix remake starring Kevin Spacey, I found it really interesting to hear Dobbs' opinion on it and what has been changed and what has been left as originally penned in the books.

The event took place at RSA House, which was a great venue, allowing for a drinks reception on the ground floor before the interview itself took place in a grand room upstairs, with amazing artwork on every wall.

Here are some of my favourite shots from the night.
