How Does It Work When You Book An Office Lifestyle Shoot For Your Business?

Choosing Your Style
First off, after you enquire, I would ask you which style of office lifestyle photograph you are looking for. I offer two styles:
Documentary lifestyle
I wander around your office or workplace, capturing your team going about their day. This can produce some really natural results, but it relies on there being interesting activity in the office (people staring at their screens isn’t interesting!) and the lighting in the office being favourable.
Artificial lifestyle
In this instance we would set up each individual scene in order to ensure we get a great selection of photos. It requires the team being on board with having their photo taken and bringing a good level of energy. Because the photo is posed, we are able to set up lighting to ensure everything looks its best.

Documentary Approach
If you decide on a documentary approach, then the important thing is that you give everyone in the office warning ahead of time that there will be a photographer roaming around the office. This allows people to tidy up their workspace by throwing away rubbish, hiding any nik-naks and removing anything else that might be a distraction in the photos like brightly coloured water bottles.
If there is anyone who really doesn’t want to be featured in photos, make a note of them and show me who they are on the day of the shoot so I can do my best to avoid taking photos of them.

artificial approach
If you decide on a more artificial approach, then you need to do a few things:
- Gather a list of people who want to be in the photos. Most of the time, office lifestyle photos work best with 2 or 3 people in them. It is of course possible to have some photos with larger groups, but it is then difficult to feature everyone’s faces in the image. That is ok for some shots, of course, where you want to show a larger team meeting for example.
- Split the list into groups of twos and threes. You can also do photos of individuals in the right context, of course.
- Allocate time – I suggest 30 minutes for each scene or setup. This allows time to move the lighting equipment between places and get it set up and then enough time to capture a good selection of photos.

The Photo Session
If you choose the documentary approach, it is just me wandering around the office with my camera and I am very discreet because my cameras are completely silent.
If you choose the artificial approach, my camera will be connected to my computer so we can check the images carefully as we shoot to ensure everything looks great and we don’t miss any important details

Post-Production & Delivery
After The Shoot
Following the shoot, the process is different for the two styles:
Documentary lifestyle
For this approach, I will pick out the best images that I took based on my professional opinion and edit those, before uploading them to a private online gallery from where you can download the final images.
Artificial approach
After the shoot, I upload the unedited photos to a private online gallery from where you can choose the images you would like to purchase. The images are separated in the gallery into each ‘scene’ we shot. The images you choose are then edited and delivered in a separate online gallery from where you can download the images in print and web resolution.
